Yes, the race is chip-timed. The results will be available within 30 minutes of completion of the race and will be posted online shortly afterwards on the Icebreaker and Startline Timing’s website(s): www.startlinetiming.com. Furthermore, all results will be posted on the Icebreaker’s website with 48 hours of the completion of the race.
All the proceeds raised from the Icebreaker go to Kajaks Track & Field Club, a not-for-profit community sports organization. All proceeds from the New Balance 1K Kidsrun goes directly to Kidsport Richmond, which helps kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it, to be able to participate in sports. Yes, if you meet the qualifying standards in the past twelve months, please email the race director directly at icebreaker8k@gmail.com with proof of your time and contact information. Please note the standards are posted in the Elites section under the Event Info tab on the Icebreaker webpage.
Yes, you can transfer your race registration to someone else for a fee of $10.
No, we are asking all participants to pick up their own package.
Contact the race director or the Race Roster Supports and someone can review your registration for confirmation of your registration. Someone will re-send an email confirmation to you. You should also ensure that you add Race Roster to your safe list.
If you have selected not to be on the confirmation list during the registration process, you will not appear on the confirmation list. Please contact Race Roster Support and they can review your race registration and ‘un-hide’ your name.
Yes, strollers are permitted but you must start at the back of the field.

The course is salted and then a thorough walk-through is done each year to make sure it is safe for all the participants. If there is large snowfall that jeopardizes the safety of the course, a notification will be posted on the Icebreaker’s website 24 hours before the race’s start time and an e-mail will be sent to participants that checked the box to receive e-mails. Please note Kajaks Track & Field Club does not take responsibility for a force majeure. See cancellation/deferral policy.
Yes, the minimum age to participate in the Icebreaker 8K is 11 years old. There is a discount for youth aged 11 to 18 years old. Kidsrun is for 10 years old and under.
No problem! From your Participant Dashboard on Race Roster, you can switch your registration at no cost until late registration is over. Note: you must know the team password of the team you are joining. If you run into any problems, reach out to support@raceroster.com with your desired team name and members to be added.
Entry fees are non-refundable for the Steveston Icebreaker and New Balance Kidsrun. That means that once the money is received and accepted Through Race Roster, I will not be eligible to receive a refund and I will not be able to defer my entry to another year.
In the case of cancellation by the organizers or government for something out of our control (force majeure, snowstorm, or other extreme weather or event), you will be given the opportunity to switch to a virtual distance (still receive your race bib and finisher medal) and receive a 50% promo code for the next year’s event.
